About Carol Acworth

Carol Acworth lives and works in the Languedoc region of the South of France. A sculptor of rare talent, Carol looks at the humanity and feeling of her subject matter. Although she produces such varied pieces, there is a constant vein of vigour of movement and texture that demands to be touched.
Her work is to be found in many homes in England, Scotland and Wales, including that of Penelope Keith, and in Kuwait, Singapore, Italy, France, New Zealand and the United States. Commissions include a Madonna and Child in Oak, for St Peters Church, Petersfield, and a bust of John Bowen, who gave his garden in Petersfield to the town for the use of the public. Other works in public places include Petersfield Hospital, and King Edward School Witley.
Carol states: "If my sculpture touches the heart, then it has achieved its real goal, to bring a little tenderness, a little light, a little healing, a little truth, a little humour and a little love into a struggling world".

Biography / CV of Carol Acworth

My childhood was in the war years, and after a haphazard and inadequate education due to ill health, and a brief career in photography, I married.

Renovating houses, (the shape around us!) occupied much of my working life, but now real sculpture, nearly always figurative, occupies more time and is dominated by my fascination with the dilemma of life, we humans and how we tick, and how we relate to one another.

"The problem of contemporary sculpture and the garden is one which has rankled in my mind for years. It is usually resolved through a process of inversion-that is turning it into sculpture in the garden as against garden sculpture. By that I mean the sculptor takes over the garden as an open exhibition gallery, of which the focus is their creation, to which the world of nature merely provides the frame. The Idea that sculpture is a contributory element to an overall'mise en scene',in which, sometimes its role may be incedental rather than central, has been lost.In this we have seen the betrayall of the great tradition of garden sculpture, one which was unashamed at being decorative or delightful."

Customer comment on 'Friday Night Maquette (Sexy Little Small nude Girl bronze statuette)' by Ronald Cameron
I must say it was for me the first time that I bought something on internet

You can imagine I was a little suspicious of doing this in the beginning Therefore I didn`t give my bank account on the telephone, Sorry therefore But I notice that buying this sculpture on the internet on your art park site, it gave me a good feeling now !!
Thanks again for the correct handling and the quick and nice service !!

Many greatings,

Marleen De Sloovere, Belgium.
